The Slade Centre for Electronic Media in Fine Art opened in 1995 providing the opportunity to focus on Fine Art Electronic Media research, contributing to debate on a national and international level.

The Slade Centre for Electronic Media in Fine Art (SCEMFA) opened in 1995 providing the opportunity to focus on Fine Art Electronic Media research, contributing to debate on a national and international level.

Public events have included Collision, a public lecture series by artists, writers and curators working with interactivity, telematics and digital works; Spontaneous Reaction, an Arts Council funded seminar investigating interactivity and human behaviour; Cached, a series of monthly internet based artists' presentations which were held at the Institute of Contemporary Art, London.

Performance/screening events have included Mislaid, an audio webcast from the ICA; Slade @ Sadlers Wells; not-tv an online streaming channel, and most recently the Slade/Transvision competition showcasing digital work on the large LED screens at Euston station and throughout London in 2005.

SCEMFA is based at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London. It supports work by students, staff and researchers at the Slade as well as some external projects. Artists currently associated with SCEMFA include Susan Collins, Jon Thomson, Simon Faithfull and Martin Callanan.
