Speed of Light

Bargehouse, Oxo Tower Wharf, London

Commissioned by Virgin Media, UVA created Speed of Light to celebrate 10 years of broadband internet in the UK. For 10 days in April, this installation will take over all four storeys of the industrial art-space Bargehouse. Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in a massive network of laser sculptures, built on the idea of speed being light, and light being data.

Marcus Lyall - Pitch Control

Pitch Control is a fully-playable instrument/art installation that invites the public to explore audiovisual possibilities. A keyboard controls a projected choir of 25 singers and each note on the keyboard - replaced by recorded singing - causes a different singer's image to appear projected in the room. A dynamic visual composition is built up as the instrument is played. The singers' faces are projected onto a group of identical shapes, to form a ghostly disembodied choir.

Pich Control was first seen at The Science Museum’s Dana Centre as part of Takeaway Festival May 19th-30th 2009.
